In 2011, the Rio Doce Water Committees selected IBIO to act as its executive agency, under formal delegations given by the National Water Council and its counterpart in Minas Gerais. Henceforth, IBIO has managed the resources from water charging in the basin to promote water recovery programs, according to the basin’s Water Plan.
Currently, IBIO is the executive agency of all the Committees of the river basin, including six in Minas Gerais State, regulated by a contract with their Water Department, four in Espírito Santo and a federal one, regulated by the National Water Agency.
